FAQs About the Amenities

The Cove, a recreational facility that includes a fitness center, swimming pool, community rooms, patio and grill, fire pits, event lawn, and multi-use sports courts. Some areas within these facilities can be reserved for events, please see the Rental tab for more information.

The Cove Location – 12636 Lake Terrace, Firestone, Colorado.

You may complete the required documents online, once completed online, stop in at The Cove during staffed hours to verify proof of address (ID, closing documents, bill, ect., anything that will show your name and address within St. Vrain Lakes Metropolitan District) and to collect your access cards for the household.

Stop in at The Cove during staffed hours to complete the required forms with proof of address.

Access Cards:
Each household can receive up to 2 free access cards. Any additional card or loss of card will be $15.

Required forms to be completed:

  • Property owner/resident form – all general information for household
  • Additional authorized user form – any additional family residing in household
  • Individual and parent/legal guardian waiver of liability form – completed for all within household
  • Minor release form – to be completed for all kids between 12-17 years old to access amenities
  • Assignment of recreational rights – if applicable, renters to complete this form

All St. Vrain Lakes Metropolitan District residents, their guests (charges may apply), and other community members (charges may apply).

The Cove Fitness Center: Access card holders and pass holders can access The Cove’s fitness center 4:00 A.M. -10:00 P.M., 7-days a week.

Multi-use sport courts and The Cove Event Lawn are open from sunrise to sunset.

The Cove fitness and gathering building community areas, swimming pool, and programming are operated by the YMCA of Denver. Full-time front desk staff is available to assist your needs during the hours noted below.

    The Cove Front Desk: Monday-Friday 9:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M. and Saturday-Sunday 10:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M.

    The Cove Swimming Pool:

    May 23rd - August 9th: 7 days a week from 10:00 A.M.– 8:00 P.M.

    August 10th-September 7th: Monday-Friday from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. & Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day 10:00 A.M.-8:00 P.M.

    At this time, the Board is considering extending pool dates/hours to be open on weekends through September.

No, you must complete an annual waiver to have access to The Cove and swimming pool. You may complete these forms online here, please note you must register to have access to this feature. You can also stop by The Cove during staffed hours to have the front desk assist you with these forms, check-in as a guest, or purchase outside user passes.

No, you cannot bring guests for free. However, there are three different outside user pass options that can be purchased at the front desk of The Cove.

Yes, lifeguards will always be on duty to ensure water and deck safety.

The Cove’s swimming pool is opening Memorial Day 2020. General hours of operations will be 10am-8pm, daily from Memorial Day – Labor Day. More detailed information to come early 2020.

Weather is closely watched. If there is lightening within 10 miles of the area, the pool and pool deck is closed for a half hour of each lightening strike. If the air temperature is 60 degrees or below, the pool is also closed until the air temperature rises.

Kids under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, unless a minor release form is on file that allows them to be accompanied by an identified 16 years or older care provider.

Kids between ages 12 – 18 may access the pool on their own, as long as they have passed swimming test if need be and all proper forms are completed and on file.

Multiple forms must be completed and on file before kids 0-18 may access The Cove and swimming pool without an accompanied parent or guardian. More information can be found here and please do not hesitate to contact The front desk online or email rec@svlmd-barefootlakes.com.

Yes, $5 per group exercise class is required along with registration for the group fitness class. Group Fitness Classes schedule can be found here.

Childcare during the scheduled class is available for all users. You may register and pay for fitness classes through the YMCA Mobile Fitness App or at The Cove’s front desk.

Kids under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 18 or older.

Kids 12 and older may access The Cove’s fitness center on their own during staffed hours with the completion of a minor release form. Once the minor form is completed, minors will receive their own access card to check in with the front desk prior to using the gym.

The Cove gathering building party rooms, patio and grill area, and event lawn can be rented. Please view the Rental Request Form to determine fees, deposits, and amenities that can be rented.

Peninsula Park, located along Barefoot Lakes, is owned and maintained by the Town of Firestone. Please report a concern by visiting https://www.firestoneco.gov/568/Parks-Trails.

Waterside Park, located off Sunset Road, is owned and maintained by the St. Vrain Lakes Metropolitan District No. 1. To submit a maintenance ticket, view service schedules, and more visit the Operations & Maintenance Page.
