Carla Fairchilds

I received a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in 1990 and obtained my paralegal certificate from the University of California San Diego.  I have worked in the legal field for over 30 years, and currently work as a paralegal for a nationwide law firm in downtown Denver.  Throughout my legal career, I have had the opportunity to work in many different areas of law, and believe my legal knowledge and experience will be beneficial to the community.  I am really looking forward to collaborating with Barefoot Lakes friends and families to create positive changes for the Barefoot Lakes community.

Michelle Busse

My name is Michelle Busse and I am running for one of the 3 year terms for the St. Vrain Lakes Metro District board. My family and I have lived in Barefoot Lakes for a year now, having previously lived in Firestone for 12 years. We have two daughters, in 2nd and 4th grade at Mead Elementary.

Personally, I came to Colorado in 1995 to go to college at the Colorado School of Mines, graduating in 1999 with a degree in Chemical and Petroleum Refinery Engineering. I am currently working as an Account Executive for a cooperative marketing database company. In my spare time, I have been singing with the Denver Women’s Chorus for 18 years and have been lucky enough to perform at Carnegie Hall and Red Rocks and I also love to knit.

I am running for the SVLMD Board because I think it is important for the residents of the neighborhood to have a strong say in what goes on here. We are the start of what will eventually be a very large neighborhood, and there will be important decisions to be made over the next 3 years, and I think the representative residents will have a better idea of what is best for the neighborhood than builders who live somewhere else. I have been attending the neighborhood and board meetings for months to see how things are run and I am also a member of the Modifications Committee.

Thanks for your consideration!

Tracy Roberts

Hello, my name is Tracy Roberts and I am running as a three-year term Board of Directors candidate for the Saint Vrain Lakes Metropolitan District. As a Barefoot Lakes resident, my family and I have spent much of the last year here learning about our beautiful community and the interests of many people that live here who have become our friends and neighbors.

My husband and I moved to Colorado last spring with our now 18-month-old daughter, dog, and two cats from Connecticut. I work as a Public Health Communications Specialist for the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. My background is primarily community-based public health and health disparities, as well as adolescent mental and behavioral health. Academically, I have graduate degrees in public health and health management and undergraduate focuses in psychology, sociology, and polysomnography. I have a well-rounded extracurricular background for volunteer organizations, previously including elected roles for VP, treasurer, secretary, and currently a membership coordinator for a CPHA coalition.

I am extremely passionate about public service and community engagement, access and affordability to living a healthy lifestyle, and especially my family. I am intentional to continue hearing feedback about frustrations in our community and can confidently be the advocate and voice that represents those concerns. I have heard the agitation of many from the past several board or community meetings, speaking at many myself, that many have received misleading information between buyers and the majority-run builder representatives on the current Board of Directors. This ranges from the water use, kayak rentals, maintenance fees, landscaping issues, and more. As a resident, similar conversations have arisen in my neighborhood and I’m hopeful that with impactful votes and shifting to more resident members on the board that we will be able to make more progress and fix existing and future challenges together.

I strive to be a very transparent person regarding my personal views and intentions in many aspects so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and ask any further questions prior to making your selection on electing a candidate for this role. For anyone who appeals to a candidate for more personal reasons, my favorite color is grey, I love hedgehogs, watching live baseball, traveling, the beach, and especially the colors of fall in New England. Thank you.

Jessica Adams

Hello Neighbors, my name is Jessica Adams and I am running for one of the open 2-year positions on the St. Vrain Lakes Metropolitan District Board. My family just celebrated our two-year anniversary of living in our beautiful community last month. We have three boys, two who attend Mead Elementary School and one who will be a senior at Mead High School in the fall (Go Mavs). I have been a teacher in our public-school system for 10 years and hold a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.A.E. in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education both from Regis University. I grew up in Colorado and absolutely love our decision to move up here to Barefoot Lakes. I have held positions on several different boards in the past involving education, accountability, and community involvement. Currently, I am the Mead Elementary Parent Advisory Council President, a position I plan on continuing next year.

I am aware that many of us were sold on promises that are not being upheld and inconsistent information. I know that I can not change things that happened in the past, but I promise I will work towards making a better future for our community.

Lake use is an important issue for all of us and the reason why many of us chose to purchase homes here. I understand the issue regarding Zebra Mussels and water quality however, I would like to see the use of personal watercraft allowed by all our residents. I believe there are many options other lake communities are using to combat this issue that we have not explored fully.

After attending a few community and board meetings this past year I was appalled to see how our operational fees and taxes were being used and would like to analyze our budget to cut unnecessary costs while still ensuring a high quality of amenities and services for our residents.

Our community and future is very important to me and I want to be a voice and advocate for my neighbors and friends. I am committed to understanding each issue fully and representing all residents to the best of my ability.

Peter Cobb

We moved to Barefoot Lakes July 2018 and really enjoy the community.I have the experience of serving on the District Board since early 2019.

My background is extensive working with home owner associations and partnering with Property Management professionals for the past 10 years.

The previous six years functioned as president of the Creekside Home Owners Association in Inverness IL…community located about 25 miles northwest of Chicago.

This was a new development of single family homes…Our association was responsible for almost every possible area of responsibility…From regulating approvals for landscaping to parking regulations…We had large open areas of preserves that had to be maintained.

We collected monthly hoa fees and regulated the budget and expenditures.

We held quarterly resident open meetings and we maintained a very close relationship with our property management association who provided the guidance and recommendations based on all types situations regarding compliance with our by laws.

I maintained a collaborative and responsive approach to our residents…and was elected to three consecutive terms as president.

And remained as president until my official resignation in June of 2018

I feel that my experience/skills in working with HOA’s and Property Management are a benefit and asset for our community.

It has been a privilege to serve on the St Vrain Lakes District Board this past year and look forward to continuing to serve our growing community.

Ted Walker

By way of introduction, I am a new resident in Barefoot Lakes, having moved here Dec 12, 2019. We are excited to make Barefoot Lakes our “forever home” as it is near enough to our 3 adult children and our 6 grandchildren, all of whom live or work in Arvada. We chose Barefoot Lakes after a 2 year search, primarily for the views, trails, lakes and river, and the ranch home we now occupy. I look to the future to see a well organized and well maintained community.

I have always been involved in my community. I have 9 years experience in a town civic association near Gunnison, having served as Treasurer and Secretary. I also served on a Homeowners Association Board in Evergreen for 6 years. I have been a member of the Citizens’ Advisory Council for the Jefferson County Sheriff Dept for the past 10 years, and I was a graduate of the FBI’s Citizen’s Academy.

After graduating from CU in 1974 with a degree in Environmental Biology, and working for the Colorado Division of Wildlife for 2 years, I went on to become involved with printing and found a career there. I worked for several large printers in Denver in sales, then founded my own company in 1992. I grew it from a startup to over $1 million in sales, with a highpoint of 9 employees, and retired in 2013.

I see a need for homeowners to be involved with the future of Barefoot Lakes. I am by nature a conservative thinker, and would pursue lower fees and quicker response to landscape reviews. I understand the zebra mussel threat but feel comfortable it can be mitigated, allowing residents use of non motorized watercraft on the lakes. I am committed to courtesy and openness and will do my best to represent all homeowners’ interests if elected.
